Title: Press Secretary

Salary: $6,500-$7,500/month (commensurate with experience and eligible for increase once every six months)

Benefits: Eligible for UnitedHealthcare medical, dental, and vision plan with 100% employer-covered premiums

Leave: 6 days of vacation in the first 6 months, additional days accrued after 6 months, reasonable sick leave, bereavement, and paid holidays

Location: Kansas City Metropolitan Area (can start remotely until relocation is feasible)

Lucas Kunce for Missouri (MO-Sen) is hiring a Press Secretary to join our team for the 2024 cycle. The ideal candidate for this position will be creative, self-motivated, disciplined, narrative-minded, hardworking, and have campaign communications experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Press Secretary will serve as a liaison between the campaign and the press, and will work with the senior communications advisor and other members of the campaign team to help manage the brand of the candidate across many mediums. Below are what some duties and responsibilities for the role will likely include:

• Respond to press inquiries
• Draft and send press releases
• Pitch stories across media platforms, including print, TV, radio, podcasts, and streams
• Generate ideas for stories that contribute to the larger narrative of the campaign and candidate 
• Identify press opportunities for the candidate across all media platforms
• Help lead rapid response efforts
• Work across departments to uphold the candidate’s brand and voice in all instances
• Staff the candidate at press-facing events
