It’s Official: Abortion Rights Will Be on November Ballot Alongside the U.S. Senate Race
Good news for freedom, bad news for the unpopular incumbent who recently said, “I look forward to the day when we look back and say, how could abortion ever have been allowed in this country?”
Independence, MO — Today, Lucas Kunce issued the following statement in response to the announcement that the constitutional amendment to protect abortion rights will be on the November ballot. Proponents of legalizing abortion gathered more than double the number of necessary signatures to put a vote to end Missouri’s total abortion ban on the ballot in November — alongside the U.S. Senate race.
“It’s official. Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in Missouri now have a chance to end this total abortion ban AND to end Josh Hawley’s crusade to ban abortion nationwide. From ending Roe and cosponsoring a national abortion ban, to having a hand in nearly every effort to restrict reproductive rights in the last decade, no one in Washington is more obsessed with controlling us than Josh Hawley,” said Kunce. “In Missouri, we are taking our power back this November. We are securing our freedom. And we’re taking this Senate seat back for real Missourians.”
Hawley’s Record Is Clear
While voters are more motivated than ever by issues like IVF, contraception, and abortion, Hawley has built a career—and even a family business—on banning them all. In the last six years, he’s made a terrifying amount of progress in that mission. And now he’s running scared of being held accountable for it — with nowhere to hide now that this initiative is on the ballot.
And he should be scared — in their recent poll, Emerson found “the share of voters who say abortion is the most important issue facing their state in Missouri is higher than any state poll we have conducted in the past year.”
Hawley pretends to support Missourians’ right to vote on abortion, but in reality, Hawley has already clearly stated he believes his mission to outlaw all abortions is as important and brave as the efforts of American abolitionists to end slavery. Hawley lies about being “100% pro-IVF” despite having a long and recent record of being anti-IVF. Hawley also voted against the Right to Contraception Act.
