Lucas Kunce Raises $4M in Under 8 Weeks

Marine veteran Lucas Kunce is on his way to another record-breaking fundraising sum, fueled by huge momentum and a stumbling Josh Hawley who has proven unable to handle a competitive challenger

Independence, MO — In just 52 days, Lt. Col. Lucas Kunce (USMCR) has already raised $4 million since the end of the last fundraising quarter, with 55% of donations coming from first-time donors. This puts Lucas Kunce on track to once again report a record-breaking fundraising haul–the latest sign of momentum for his challenge against unpopular Josh Hawley–and brings his grand total for the Senate race to a whopping $14 million raised.

“No one is working harder to flip a U.S. Senate seat than Lucas Kunce,” said Caleb Cavarretta, campaign manager. “From huge crowds in every corner of the state, to grassroots donations from every county, Lucas has built the worker-led, people-powered coalition that can defeat Josh Hawley and take this seat back for real Missourians.”

With an average contribution of $33, more than 425,000 total donations, and donations from every single one of Missouri’s 114 counties and the City of St. Louis, Lucas Kunce has built an unparalleled grassroots coalition in Missouri.

This comes on the heels of news that abortion is officially on the ballot in Missouri this November, alongside the U.S. Senate race, gathering more than double the required signatures. This puts Josh Hawley in an especially vulnerable position given he has the worst record on reproductive freedom of any member of Congress – which includes voting against IVF and the Right to Contraception. Voters are more motivated than ever to protect their reproductive rights, and by extension, their lives. A previous video shares a powerful message in Missouri about what unfolds when your opponent literally pioneers the argument behind nationwide efforts to shut down IVF access.

This quarter, Lucas Kunce also released “Family Values,” a new ad narrated by John Goodman, a born-and-raised Missourian, and award-winning artist known for starring in Roseanne and O Brother, Where Art Thou. Like Lucas, John grew up in a family that lived paycheck-to-paycheck.

Plus, Lucas is garnering local and national media attention. Just last week, Lucas challenged Josh Hawley at the Missouri State Fair to televised debates after several networks expressed willingness to host. Lucas also joined MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace, and Newsweek to discuss the chance that Missourians have in November to take back power over their bodies and lives with abortion officially on the ballot, among other salient issues.

Here’s what former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander—who’s won statewide and nearly defeated GOP incumbent Roy Blunt while overperforming the Democratic national ticket by double-digits—had to say about the race:

“Lucas Kunce can defeat Josh Hawley. With Joe Manchin’s retirement taking West Virginia’s Senate race off the board, Missouri is the perfect candidate to replace it. And for anyone who cares about democracy, reproductive freedom, health care access and working families, this race should be a priority… Just like voters in states where we’ve seen big wins for Democrats and pro-freedom initiatives in the past year, hundreds of thousands of voters in Missouri are still splitting their tickets… Just as we saw in elections across the country — both this year and in the last decade — pundits and presidential politics won’t be deciding the result of every race in 2024. Voters will be.”
